How this service is built, and why it matters here

This is the most important thing to understand before sending a notice. SaveThisMedia is a tool, not a host. It accepts no uploads from users. It keeps no library, no archive, no cache and no index of anyone’s media.

When someone submits a link, our server reads the media addresses that X (formerly Twitter) already publish for that public post and passes them to the visitor’s browser. In the ordinary case the file travels from the platform’s own content delivery network straight to that visitor and never reaches us at all. Where media does pass through our server - building a ZIP, or trimming a clip - it exists only in memory for the seconds the request takes, is never written to disk, and is gone when the response ends.

In practice this means there is normally no copy on our servers for us to take down, and no permanent public copy of any downloaded video anywhere on this site. If a post is removed from the platform it was published on, it immediately stops being reachable through this tool, because the tool was only ever pointing at the original.

Removing content at the source

If your work was uploaded to X (formerly Twitter) without your permission, the effective remedy is to report it to that platform directly. Removing it there removes it everywhere, including from any tool that links to it. We cannot remove a post from a platform we do not operate.

What a notice must contain

To be actionable, a notice needs all of the following:

• Your contact information: full name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
• Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
• Identification of the material you are complaining about, precise enough for us to locate it - normally the exact post address or the account.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law.
• A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on their behalf.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

How complaints are reviewed

Every complaint is read by a person. We do not remove or block anything simply because a complaint was submitted - an unverified or incomplete notice is not by itself a reason to act, and automatic removal on demand would be an invitation to abuse.

1. We acknowledge complete notices, normally within five business days.
2. We check that the notice contains everything listed above and that the material it identifies is actually something this service can reach.
3. Where a notice is valid and the law requires it, we remove or disable access to material we host or control. In this architecture that means blocking the identified post or account from being processed by the service, since there is no hosted copy to delete.
4. Where the effective remedy lies with the platform that hosts the post, we say so and point you to it rather than pretending to a power we do not have.
5. We may ask for clarification before acting, and we keep you informed of the outcome.

Sending a notice in bad faith, or misrepresenting that material is infringing, can make you liable for damages under section 512(f) of the DMCA.

Counter-notices

If access was restricted through this service and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to hello@savethismedia.com, including your contact details, identification of what was restricted, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was restricted in error. We will review it the same way.

Repeat infringers

SaveThisMedia will restrict or terminate access, at its discretion and without notice, for any visitor who uses this service to infringe copyright repeatedly. Because there are no accounts, that is enforced at the network level and against the addresses concerned.

What users agree to

Every downloader states, above its download button, that by downloading a visitor confirms they own the content or have the necessary rights or permission to download it. Our Terms of Service set out the rest: downloading transfers no copyright or ownership, republishing, redistributing or monetising someone else’s work is prohibited, and doing it is the user’s liability.

Nothing on this site is an invitation to infringe. The tool reads only what X (formerly Twitter) publish openly, never touches private, restricted or protected accounts, defeats no technical protection measure, and removes no creator watermark.
